Paris-Avouzon-Aoste-Chamoix-Paris

It's been a wonderful journey so far! Maggie and I are back in Paris! Our visit to Avouzon will stay in my heart forever! Maggies dear friend Sylviane took us into her home and showed us what French living was all about! I got to know her husband Bernard and her daughter Floriane as well. Bernard and I had a good time trying to figure out what we were saying to each other! But we found a bond in the rock in roll group The Rolling Stones! He is a sweet man and I'm glad to have met him. Staying in Avouzon with Sylviane and Bernard was like a dream and a true vacation. We decided not to go to Italy on the train and stay a night. Instead Bernard DROVE us there!! I got to go under the Biggest mountain in Europe... The Mount Blanc... and put my feet in Italy. The air there was crisp and clean. It felt good.. Or as I say in French, Bon! We got to eat Italian food and shop in the town of Aoste. Caio!
We then drove back to France and stopped in Chamiox which us at the foot hill of the Alps. I bought a hat to remember that cute town.. Which already felt like winter! Back to Avouzon with the gang and at supper. The time that we spent with them seems like weeks ago! It was hard for Maggie to say good bye... They are such dear friends.

Now we are back in Paris! We went to a French flea market and did not buy a thing!! Well I take that back. I got a royal with cheese from McDonalds. We walked miles today. Starting at the louvre and down champs elysses. I stood in the middle of the louvre and looked at Mona Lisa.. Along with the all of Japan. It was good because I could take pictures over their heads! I saw mummies and sculptures that dated back before Jesus! I feel pretty young now for 30! After Maggie and could not walk another step... Or steps! We got out of the louvre and found a chair to rest our legs. Watching people is probably one of my favorite things to do! The men wear tight pants and and the girls are wearing panty hose! Panty hose with shorts! All different colors from red to blue! It will be in the states soon enough.. And I'll know where it started. After a short while we made our way towards the Arc De Triomphe. We stood in the middle and watched the cars wiz by in a circle. Crazy!!
Now we are in our hotel room relaxing before dinner and watching french news. Oh, and drinking some wine that Bernard sent with us on our trip! Sweet man!
More tomorrow love from Paris

Jet-lagged in Paris!

Bonjour from France,

Maggie and I feel like we have been here for weeks now. The time is not flying by which is a good thing. I have seen so many things.. So many that it is hard to digest. I am American. I do stick out here! I feel like I have walked into another world. The people here dress so nicely and are so trim. I think if I lived here I would be skinny also with all the walking we have done. I think Maggie and I walked around Amsterdam twice! I could not close my mouth there. I was shocked, fascinated, and inspired! Y'all they are strange! But I think I like it.. France is a little more polished. It feels good to be here... Amsterdam felt like an alien world. But the people in Ams spoke great English... And helped us to get to our hotel for free! I think they felt sorry for us! I call it being charmed. In Paris it's harder to talk to people. But we have made it around just fine! Maggie and I are waiting fir the train to head to Sylviane's home! I can't wait to meet her.
I'll write more when I get there!
Oh.. I turned 30 in Paris! Cool.

Leaving the States.

It's almost here! Time really flew by this month--I think because I was flying the whole time!  Work really  keeps the mind off of things.  And it helps me from spending money...money that I want to spend in Europe! Maggie keeps telling me that there are stores over there.  I just have that feeling that I am not bringing enough or they wont have what I need!  I  will get over that when I get there.
Everyone keeps asking me if I am excited about the trip.  The excitement will happen for me when we land in Amsterdam.  Right now it just feels like another day in the office--with extra baggage!  Time of take off is 5:20 pm. Cross your fingers and toes (that's what grandma Whitley would say to me when I had something big going on in my life) that we will get on that flight safe and sound to the Netherlands! It's here.

Take a trip with a friend.

The adventure will start on the 25th of September.  My Aunt Maggie and I will be traveling across the sea to Europe for a 12 day holiday.  While out there we will be celebrating our birthdays!  Hers will be the first day in Amsterdam!  We plan on getting there in the morning of the 26th and staying till the next day.  A train ride will take us to the South of France!  Maggie has a dear friend that lives in a small town that looks at the Alps. Not too bad!  I am excited to meet her and the family and feel what its like to be French!  I can pretend!  After what I hope is a great visit, we will jaunt down to Italy for a day. Yes, just a day!  We have too much to do in our short trip.  A train ride will take us up into the Swiss Alps where I hope I can find some chocolate to eat!  After that it's Paris!  I am so excited to be able to see in person what I have been researching for so long!  We plan on hitting as many museums as possible, shop the markets and drink lots of wine!  So, I am about to take a trip with a friend!  More to come!
